£925 raised for Sunbeams

Date: Friday 24th January 2014

A CHARITY concert was held at Penrith Golf Club in aid of the Sunbeams Music Trust.

This is one of the chosen charities that both club captain Phil Park and lady captain Chris West are supporting during their year in office.

Annie Mawson’s Sunbeams Music Trust, having celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2012, is raising funds to provide a permanent music therapy centre for disabled and disadvantaged people.

Sunbeams is now one of the leading Arts in Health organisations in the UK and recognised as one of the most innovative and hands-on charities in the country.

“The event was very well supported and the entertainment, led by Annie and her superb and enthusiastic group of musicians, was a delight for those attending,” said a golf club spokesman.

“The generosity of members, guests and those who had donated raffle prizes raised £925 on the evening. Penrith Golf Club members are, of course, delighted to hear that Annie was awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours list for her outstanding work in this so worthwhile field.”
