ON the 100th anniversary of the suffragette movement, Alston WI organised an afternoon tea to celebrate at the Masonic Hall. On the door and selling raffle tickets was Gill Rogers. A toy and bric-a-brac stall was laden with items to buy.
A competition for the best decorated hat attracted 13 entries. The theme of dressing in green, cream or purple suffragette colours raised £130. Everyone enjoyed the afternoon with tasty homemade cakes and sandwiches, served by the committee.
