Date: Wednesday 5th March 2008

PHIL and Liz Newport offer the complete package when it comes to chic and eco-friendly garden design and landscaping.

Liz, from Catterlen, near Penrith, can draw on 20 years of study and career experience to provide whatever people need to create the garden of their dreams.

Her well-established garden design firm, Buzy Lizzie, is responsible for the transformation of landscapes large and small across Cumbria.

And now Phil’s latest venture, Wildroof Landscapes, is the next piece in the family’s green design credentials which is benefiting people and wildlife.

“Buzy Lizzie has been a big hit since we established it three years ago, and we have tackled a wide variety of schemes from rejuvenating tired borders to complete transformations,” said Liz.

“We have always had a passion for eco-friendly gardening, especially green roofed garden structures. So many of our clients have expressed an interest that we realised there was massive potential in the market.”

Phil has registered the wildroof Internet domain and work is ongoing on a website to highlight the amazing benefits of green roofs.

“Any roof structure, no matter how small, can be utilised to grow plants and provide an eye-catching and unusual garden feature as well as a haven for wildlife,” said Phil.

“Green roof structures were once considered a fad but now it is coming more and more into mainstream gardening. Judging by the interest we are getting from clients in Cumbria, it is here to stay.”

Rolls Royce has a factory in Chichester which boasts 35,000sq metres of green roof and the new 2012 Olympic village for London will also be clothed with plants.
