Garden glories — and afternoon teas
EDEN woman Christine Rose has raised £300 for charity by opening her stunning garden in the village of Bolton to the public.
“This summer I opened my garden to fundraise for Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland in memory of my mother, Betty Dent,” she said. “I provided cream teas over three Sunday afternoons and have raised £300.”
The garden at her Bolton home has been both winner and runner-up in a Cumbria in Bloom special category in previous years.
Christine added: “My back garden, which I designed and had landscaped this year in a formal style, has been visited this year again by Cumbria in Bloom judges. The formal garden I made in memory of my mother who won lots of awards for her station house garden and was gardening until she died aged 92 — a truly inspiring lady.”
Christine is to hand over the cash to Jackie Lambert, of Hospice at Home, who is a dedicated fundraiser for the Eden Valley.
