CHARITY fundraiser John Bowerbank, aged 86, on Friday got to see the motorbike he has bought for Blood Bikes Cumbria.

Eden man Mr Bowerbank wanted to give money to the charity as he believes it deserves more publicity. Members of Blood Bikes Cumbria brought the Yamaha FJR1300 to his home to show the machine to him and thank him for his generosity.

It is kitted out with all thenecessary equipment and displays a dedication stating it was bought by Mr Bowerbank in memory of his late wife, Irene.

“It was lovely to see — it’s a marvellous machine,” said Mr Bowerbank, a motorcycle enthusiast.

Members of the charity and Mr Bowerbank’s neighbours stayed to chat for a couple of hours. “It was quite a nice little gathering,” hesaid.
