NATIONAL Trust employees have organised an open meeting at which river management in the Ullswater valley will be discussed.

The meeting is to be held in Glenridding public hall at 7-30 pm on Wednesday, when anybody with an interest in the matter will be able to state their views and hear what criteria are being used to decide how best to manage rivers in the area on a long term basis.

The meeting will be chaired by local parish council chairman Brian Scrivens, who will be acting as an independent arbiter on this occasion.

There will be short presentations by flood defence operation team leader Mike Fell, the Environment Agency and Nick Haycock, of Haycock Associates.

Further details are available from National Trust property manager Judith Derbyshire on 017684 82067.
