THE weather stayed fine for the annual service of the blessing of the lambs at St. Theobald’s Church, Musgrave, on Sunday, allowing the congregation to gather round a pen with a ewe and her three lambs, which were provided by Andrew Wells.

A blessing was given and the hymn All Things Bright and Beautiful sung before the congregation returned to church.

The children then performed an amusing play about a shepherd guarding his sheep from the big bad wolf.

Readings given by Clive Hutchinson and Barbara Dowson continued the theme, with words from Bishop Hewlett Thompson.

The service was led by the Rev. Peter Tompkins, who also blessed the shepherds’ sticks and pets brought by the children. Afternoon tea was served after the service.
