“Virtual assistant” Gwen can lighten paperwork load …

SOME businesses might be feeling the weight of excessive paperwork as they expand, but Gwen Backhouse (right), who has many years of experience working as a personal assistant, receptionist and audio typist, has come up with an innovativesolution to help address this problem and save time and money.

Gwen is a “virtual assistant” who has started a company called Curlew Secretarial Solutions, based in Garrigill, on Alston Moor.

A “virtual assistant” is a secretary/administrator/personal assistant who works remotely from their fully equipped office and uses the Internet, post and telephone as their main sources of communication.

Gwen says that with 15 years ofexperience and a fully equipped office, she can offer a fully comprehensive service. One of her clients is in Amsterdam.

As well as running Curlew Secretarial Solutions, she also volunteers as anassistant scout leader for 1st Alston Scout Group and her love of administration has also helped in her role as secretary for Alston Moor Food Bank.
