A BRAVE performance for Great Britain in the UCI Road World Championships in Bergen saw Eden’s Mark Donovan earn the plaudits of many.

The 18-year-old, from Penruddock, was one of five riders in the GB junior men’s team (under-19) whose race on Saturday morning was shown live on television.

The race was won by Julius Johansen, of Denmark, who attacked on the final lap to go solo and take the victory.

Among those to recognise Donovan’s efforts were British Cycling, who said on Twitter: “Great work from the junior men — 5th for Jake Stewart after great work from Mark Donovan at the front for over 100km.”
