Club shock over Park player’s leg amputation

PENRITH Rugby Club first team manager Mike Sanderson has spoken of the club’s shock at hearing the news that Birkenhead Park player Billy Woof has had his leg amputated at the knee after suffering a dislocation in last month’s promotion play-off match between the two teams.

Woof suffered the dislocation in the last few minutes of his side’s play-off victory at home to Penrith on 29th April.

“We all know rugby is a tough game and you expect to take some knocks, but you do not expect things to turn out like this," said Sanderson.
