Hero Paul helps make history at first para Highland Games

A WOUNDED Eden veteran helped make history by taking part in the first adaptive Highland Games on Saturday.

Paul Metcalfe, aged 53, who is in the process of moving from Haweswater to Penrith, was a member of a Help for Heroes team hich competed in the Mey Games at John o’ Groats.

The team of wounded and injured veterans and serving personnel came second in the tug of war at the first para Highland Games, in front of Prince Charles.

Paul also took part in the sheaf throw — which involved tossing a heavy weight over a high bar using a pitchfork — plus hammer and shotput events.
