Memorial match raises £3,000

Date: Tuesday 16th May 2017

FOOTBALLERS from Penrith came together on Saturday to play a charity match in memory of well-known Eden sportsman Graeme Higgins, who died earlier this year at the age of 47.

Around £3,000 was raised for the Eden Valley Hospice, where Graeme died on New Year’s Day.

The game, played at Castletown Rec. and watched by a large number of spectators, was between Graeme’s old team-mates at the now defunct Carleton Rovers club and former players from Rovers’ old Westmorland League rivals Wetheriggs United.
