New blood sought by “under threat” football club
PENRITH AFC’s Billy Williams has warned that the Blues are “under threat” unless enthusiastic new supporters and sponsors are able to pitch in at Frenchfield Park.
As spiralling costs continue to place a strain on club finances, Williams this week praised town businesses, backers and committee members whose existing generosity and support means the first XI can continue to play in the highly competitive Northern League Division I.
But with the club’s 125th anniversary looming next year, the ex-player and manager said more community backing was being sought to ensure Penrith can remain at that level.
