£11,000 raised for Friends of the Lake District
FRIENDS of the Lake District supporters raised more than £11,000 by trekking across the shifting sands at Morecambe Bay.
The walk involved more than 400 people, from a small child who was carried by a parent, to seasoned walkers, and even a few dogs went along too.
Spurred on by the breeze, they enjoyed views across the bay, out to sea and over the Lake District fells they were raising money to protect.
Friends of the Lake District fundraiser, Rachel Damms, said: "We are very grateful to everyone who worked so hard to raise sponsorship. The Lake District may look rugged and wild but it is also a very fragile landscape and this money will help us ensure it is protected for us all to enjoy for many generations to come."
