Appleby wait for NHS dentist is almost over
A NEW dental practice is to open in Appleby, easing the pain for NHS patients who have been left without a provider for seven months.
What was the town’s only NHS dentist, My Dentist, at the Riverside Building in Chapel Street, closed at the end of December. Patients were advised to seek emergency treatment through Dental Direct while NHS England sought a new provider.
The lack of NHS dental cover in the town was branded “appalling” by patients earlier this year and NHS England failed to deliver on its claim that a new service could be in operation from 1st August.
Healthwatch Cumbria has confirmed that a new NHS dentist will open in the Shire Hall.
