Celebration of original music at Penrith Playhouse

Date: Thursday 12th October 2017

PENRITH Playhouse will play host this Sunday (15th October) to what is hoped will become the first of a new series of songwriters' circle events in the town.

The Eden Valley Artistic Network (EVAN) and local institution Plug 'n' Play have come together to put on an exciting new night involving three local singer-songwriters.

The event will feature the brilliant Will Harris, of Cumbrian favourites my little brother, alongside Penrith's Cal-Rush Williams, who has recently released his debut single Kraken Tides.

Joining them will be BBC Folk Awards nominee and world renowned banjo virtuoso, Dan Walsh. Dan was born in Penrith, but now plays all over the world, both solo and the with acclaimed Urban Folk Quartet.

Each will play their original music, talk about their inspirations and approaches to songwriting and even take questions from the audience too.

A spokesperson for EVAN said: "Considering its modest population, the Eden Valley produces some incredible songwriting talent.

"These songwriters' circle events were inspired by the BBC series of the same name and are a celebration of the phenomenal, original music that comes from our corner of the world."

All are welcome to the event, which will take place in the Playhouse bar, in Auction Mart Lane, Penrith, from 7pm.
