Events to help mark Carers Week

Date: Monday 11th June 2018

THERE will be activities and events held across Eden to mark Carers Week.

Carers Week, which runs until Sunday, raises awareness of the 6.5 million carers across the UK. In Eden, there are about 6,000 young and adult carers.

Support is available to these people through charities such as Penrith based Eden Carers, which will be hosting two events this week.

Tomorrow at the Methodist Hall, Wordsworth Street, Penrith, researchers from Stirling University will be discussing how best to support someone with dementia, giving practical information and help, which draws on research and knowledge developed over the last 25 years. Contact 01768 890280 to guarantee a place.

On Thursday, there will be a social gathering at Quaker Meeting House, Meeting House Lane, Penrith, where everyone is invited to help knit twiddle muffs or activity cushions, providing a source of visual, tactile and sensory stimulation for people with dementia and Alzheimer's.

Further details of these events are available from the Eden Carers website www.edencarers.co.uk or by calling 01768 890280.
