Interested in a career in nursing?

Date: Tuesday 8th January 2019

PEOPLE considering a career in nursing have the opportunity to find out more from the University of Cumbria this weekend.

Its campuses in Fusehill Street, Carlisle, and Bowerham Road, Lancaster, are hosting dedicated nursing open days on Saturday, starting at 11am.

The University of Cumbria is one of the few establishments in the country to offer undergraduate degree courses in all four disciplines of nursing — adult, children’s, mental health and learning disabilities.

The university works closely and collaboratively with local health trusts, including Cumbria Partnership NHS Trust, North Cumbria University Hospitals Trust and Morecambe Bay NHS Trust, to provide students with opportunities to build up a network of contacts in the medical sector through varied placements.

To those seeking a nursing career, Dr Louise Nelson, the university’s head of nursing, health and professional practice, said: “You will make a difference every single day, in every single way, to patients, carers and the wider community.

“The next generation of nurses can look to find their place with us here at the University of Cumbria. Our open days offer people the chance to find out more about what the courses entail, meet staff and tutors, tour our facilities and discover more about the university and what it offers.”
