Kyle May unveiled as new Penrith AFC boss
FORMER Workington Reds star Kyle May has been confirmed as the new player-manager of Penrith AFC.
May's appointment was announced by the Blues in a statement this morning — only hours after the veteran defender appeared in the opposing dugout as an unused substitute for Shildon AFC in a Northern League Division I clash at Frenchfield Park.
A club spokesman said: "Penrith AFC are delighted to announce that Kyle May has accepted the manager's seat down at Frenchfield Park.
"The ex-Carlisle United, Workington AFC and Shildon central defender will take up the reins immediately. May will also be lining up for the Bonny Blues as a player to add experience.
"Andrew Coyles, English Universities men's team head coach, has been appointed first team coach to assist May."
May, aged 35, played more than 500 competitive games for Workington during 13 seasons at Borough Park.
His first engagement as Penrith boss will be Saturday's Cumberland FA Senior Cup tie away to Cockermouth.
