Penrith park lottery bid has to be scaled back

Date: Friday 11th August 2017

A BID to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to help restore and improve amenities at Penrith’s Castle Park is to be resubmitted in January.

Organisers behind the application for £1.93 million of funding will meet next month to have a rethink over a number of areas of the bid as well as ways of reducing the overall budget.

The original bid was put together by the Castle Park Development Group with support from Eden Council’s leisure services team. It was developed following extensive public consultation and covered many areas of Castle Park.

Ron Kenyon, chairman of the development group, said they had been advised to look again at a number of areas of the bid and at reducing the budget.
