Pupils turn noses up at plastic
CHILDREN at an Eden primary school decided not to wear red noses in support of Comic Relief today as part of their commitment to reducing unnecessary plastic waste.
The school council at Crosby Ravensworth Primary School made the decision after concluding the plastics would simply end up at a landfill site.
Pupils painted their noses red instead and brought in donations for the school to send to the charity.
“We will be raising money as usual for Comic Relief because it’s a great charity that helps people who are less fortunate than us. However, we won’t be buying any red noses as they are yet another example of single-use plastic — we believe that is bad news for our environment,” said the school council.
