£6,500 damage to phones system |

THE telephone supply to some Eden homes and businesses was cut after a junction box was vandalised.
Police said around £6,500 worth ofdamage was caused to the box including panels and wires which is located at the road side between Calthwaite and Burthwaite. The site is close to an access point for Southwaite services northbound. The incident was reported to have occurred on Friday morning. “The doors to the box were forced and then extensive damage was caused to the inside,” said a Cumbria police spokesman. “The damage caused temporary loss of phones tobusinesses and residential properties nearby.” Anybody with information about the damage is asked to contact PC Campbell, at Penrith police station, on the 101 non-emergency number. |
