A WOMAN is to stand trial accused of intimidating a witness by making verbal threats towards her.

Bethreane Hughes (19), Bradley Head, Ousby, is charged with intimidating Chel-c Smith, a victim of an offence, by making verbal threats towards her at Carlisle on 16th April.

She pleaded not guilty to the offence when she appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and an outline of the case was given by Mrs. Pam Ward, prosecuting, after which magistrates accepted jurisdiction for the case.

The case was adjourned to 10th July when Hughes will stand trial alongside another woman accused of the offence.

She was granted bail on condition she does not contact Chel-c Smith.
