SOME of the group of 23 Lake District national park voluntary wardens and rangers who tackled two large dumps of old cars and other rubbish on Moor Divock, overlooking Pooley Bridge, in June, 1979. All the major items were removed with the exception of one old car enjoying a temporary new role as a haven for nesting birds. |

Mr. Dick Taylor, Penrith, with his winning whippet, Gold Cracker, receives the Townhead Trophy from Mr. Alec McIntosh, of the Grey Bull, Inn, Penrith, with his two daughters, Lesley and Alison, in October, 1975. The trophy was donated by Mr. George Bowman and Mr. McIntosh and it was the first time it had been competed for. Second prize went to Mrs. Mary Iceton, Penrith, and third place went to Mr. Jake Thomas, Carlisle. |
