SOME of the group of 23 Lake District national park voluntary wardens and rangers who tackled two large dumps of old cars and other rubbish on Moor Divock, overlooking Pooley Bridge, in June, 1979. All the major items were removed with the exception of one old car enjoying a temporary new role as a haven for nesting birds. |

PENRITH Castle Park was in its infancy when this postcard shot appeared in 1929. The park had been opened six years earlier as a result of initiative and determination on the part of the old urban district council in the face of resistance from niggardly ratepayers at the time. There are now plans to update the park. |
