SOME of the leading players in the “Makers of Appleby”, a historical pageant staged in the town in the summer of 1980. They included Beata Connell, Peter Whitehouse, Timothy Grayson, Reg Folder, Charmaine Joscelyne, Scott Chandler, Jean Gray, David Gray, Canon R. W. Grayson and Andrew Connell.

The pageant was organised by a prominent Applebian, Mr. Martin Holmes.
