THIS man is being sought after staff at Penrith railway station were verbally abused.

The incident occurred at around noon on Friday, 1st June, when a man and woman attempted to board a train to Carlisle.

"Neither had a ticket to travel and were refused entry to the train," said PC Becky Tabb, of British Transport Police (BTP). "As a result they became abusive and the man swore at rail staff."

BTP officers today issued a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to about the incident. "We will not tolerate any form of violence or abuse on the railway and I am calling on the public to come forward with information about the incident," said PC Tabb.

Anybody who has information or recognise the man should contact the BTP on 0800 405040 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111. All callers should quote log B6/NWA of 1st June, 2012.
