A FESTIVAL with a focus on wellbeing activities and adventure is being launched in Eden.

Leigh-ann Newburn, of Yogi in the Lakes, and Wiz Lees, of Wiz Lees Fitness, who both live in Shap, have teamed up to create the new Eden Escape Festival, which is to take place in June at Mains Farm, Kirkoswald.

Their aim is to encourage festival-goers to have a mini-adventure by trying something new and “rewilding” themselves.

“We both love a little bit of the outdoors and having adventures and we both work in the health and fitness business, so, in a nutshell, Eden Escape Festival is our way of sharing all of the things we love rolled into one weekend,” said Leigh-ann.

On offer for participants will be boot camps, yoga, wild swimming, inspirational talks, adventure films, family yoga and fitness classes, workshops, Nordic walking, a forest school, slacklining, markets, spa, street food and bar, and local musicians.

Wiz said: “Leigh-ann and I have known each other for years with our paths crossing every now and then and we have always been outside kind of people.

“As we live in the same village and both have a passion for fitness and being outside (though in very different ways) we felt that creating an event that brings our worlds, lifestyles and full-time jobs together would allow us to spread our passions further afield, introduce them to a wider audience and perhaps to people who wouldn’t normally try this kind of thing.

“With over 1,700 people interested in the event on Facebook within two weeks of launching, we think this goes to show that there are lots of people out there looking for this type of adventure, but maybe not knowing where to find it — so in steps Eden Escape Festival.

“Our focus isn’t necessarily around epic, once-in-a-lifetime adventures — although they are great too.

“It’s about finding ways to get outside and try something new, and giving people the tools and inspiration to bring micro adventures into their lives as well as showing them they can stay fit and healthy in interesting and fun ways.”
