Hockey girls back in action
PENRITH Hockey Club second team were back in action after an enforced break due to frost.
They played a home game against Wigton II in strong wind. Player illness and unavailability meant they had to draft players in and play some out of position.
Penrith applied a great deal of pressure, but could not quite get the finish, and they then succumbed to Wigton breaking down the middle, with the midfield not being strong enough to hold them, resulting in a final score 7-0 to Wigton.

Tomorrow the second team play their cup game at home to Carlisle first team.
l Penrith first team team played their home game against Ulverston in the afternoon. They had only 11 players and two of them were from the second team squad.
The game ended 3-3, with Penrith having to work hard for each of their goals. Ulverston scored all their goals from set piece penalty corners.
Penrith’s Sian Kirby sustained a head injury from a lifted ball early in the first half and was taken to hospital. She was released later that day. This resulted in young Emily Airey making her first team debut.
