Keswick are champions with four games still to play

Date: Friday 12th April 2019

KESWICK retained the James Cropper Westmorland Football League Division I title with four games in hand with a 7-1 victory over Wetheriggs United at Fitz Park on Tuesday.

The goals came from Andy Frampton (2), Richard Bannister (2), Declan Robinson, Jamie Little and George Frampton. However, the result was immaterial in the end as Appleby — the only team left with a chance of catching Keswick — lost 4-0 to Penrith Reserves at Frenchfield.

The Fitz Park men are also in the finals of the Westmorland FA Benevolent Trophy — in which they play Kendal United at Kendal Town FC on Wednesday — and the Senior Challenge Cup in which they take on Kendal County, again at Kendal Town FC, on Saturday, 27th April. In addition, they play Appleby today in the semi-final of the Westmorland League High Sheriff’s Cup. The game is at Frenchfield, Penrith, as work has begun on repairing Appleby’s Broad Close pitch.

The winners will play Kirkoswald in the final after they defeated Windermere SC 3-1 on Saturday with goals from Rob Whitton, Brad Renwick and Ryan Bell.
