Best friends’ work performed at leading London theatre
TWO young Penrith-based writers had their plays performed in London at the weekend.
Zoë Badder, aged 25, and Hannah Sowerby, aged 22, both entered their own short plays into a nationwide callout for pieces of work from London-based theatre company Director’s Cut.
They were thrilled to both be selected as part of a new writing showcase, “Home”, and a little taken aback by the coincidence, as they have been best friends for more than 10 years.
Just 14 plays were selected from more than 350 submissions. They were performed at London’s leading off-West End theatre, Southwark Playhouse, on Sunday.
Both Zoë and Hannah travelled to see the show with friends and family. They said it was a truly fabulous and exciting evening with an eclectic mix of plays, hilarious comedy, heartfelt and thought-provoking monologues and quirky takes on political issues.
