Road closed by two crashes

Date: Thursday 4th April 2019

TWO crashes has led to the A686 being closed this morning in both directions around the junction with Beacon Edge at Edenhall.

Two van drivers were taken to hospital after a collision involving their vehicles at around 5-30am.

Shortly after the crash, as police officers were closing the road, an HGV lorry clipped one of the vans due to "difficulties in the hazardous driving conditions".

Police have described the two injured people as "walking wounded", and said they were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The A686 is closed for a half-mile stretch from just north of Honeypot near Whins Pond to the junction for Foxfield Park.

It is affecting traffic between Kemplay roundabout for the A66, and Langwathby, with people advised to use alternative roads.

If you have any information on the incident contact Cumbria Constabulary on 101.

Elsewhere, Newlands Pass in Braithwaite was closed by police this morning from around 8-30am due to snow causing hazardous driving conditions.
