Tour takes Upper Eden by storm

Date: Wednesday 11th September 2019

HUNDREDS of people lined roadsides at Kirkby Stephen, Brough and Great Musgrave yesterday to cheer on cyclists in the Tour of Britain as it passed through the area.

Special cycle-themed events were laid on as locals and visitors got into the spirit of the iconic sporting event.

The stage ended at Kendal — the fourth time the town has been at the finish of a stage in the Tour of Britain — and was won by Dutch rider Mathieu van der Poel.

Among the riders was Mark Donovan, of Penruddock, riding for Team Wiggins.
