Ullswater Junior Triathlon Club athletes and one coach took part in the Epic open water swim, based at Glenridding.

Competing in the one-mile event was 17-year-old Charlie Harding. In a very competitive field, he came home in a time of 21min 10sec and a great fifth position overall.

Younger brother, Archie, aged 13, put in a fine effort to come 22nd in the 500m in a time of 10.15.

Joint head coach Lucy Donnelly was 10th in the women’s 3.8km event.

The water was a chilly 11 degrees and a challenging blustery wind made conditions a bit tough going. Lucy was pleased to get in her first and last event of a somewhat disrupted season.

The following weekend Charlie was back in action again, this time in Windermere.

In the one-mile Saturday swim Charlie again swan brilliantly to take the win in 22.19.

On the Sunday, competing in one of the few triathlons of the season, Charlie recorded a win in the sprint event, triumphing in a time of 1.21.03, a clear minute-and-a-half ahead of second place.
